Immigration amnesty to thousands of undocumented Bolivian migrants subjected to virtual slave labor in Brazil’s industrial heartland is offering Sao Paulo state authorities. This program to normalize the Bolivians' immigration status is the fruitage of talks involving the Sao Paulo branch of the federal attorney general's office, the Roman Catholic Church and the Bolivian Federation, which represents the workers from the neighboring country. The beings are combining their efforts to help the Bolivians living in Sao Paulo who are interested in legalizing their status in Brazil. Any Bolivian who came to Brazil prior to August 15, 2005 may legalize his or her immigration situation and obtain a residence visa by presenting several documents to authorities at Federal Police headquarters in the city before March 15 the agreement establishes.
