Sao Paulo made a successful start to the defence of their Libertadores Cup title at last week on Wednesday with a 2-1 win at Caracas FC. Sao Paulo took a first half lead through Danilo and is enjoying a rich run of form in Brazilian domestic competitions. So, Caracas tried to contain the visitors by packing the midfield before Danilo broke through with a penetrating run and low shot from the left wing. When Aloisio helped a Souza free kick into the goal in the second half Caracas's hopes were dented further. Rogerio Ceni was called up for Brazil's friendly against Russia and so Sao Paulo was without goalkeeper. Last month Guadalajara beat Peru's Cienciano and is level on three points with Sao Paulo in Group 1.
