On March 22 LAN Peru is primed to start direct service from Los Angeles International (LAX) to Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). At first, on the new route there will be four weekly round-trips and the airline will operate Boeing 767 wide bodies. To heighten interest in the run, LAN Peru is offering a special introductory roundtrip fare of $499 from Los Angeles to either Rio de Janeiro (GIG) or Sao Paulo. So, to take advantage of the deal, buy before Wednesday, March 22, and complete travel on Tuesday, May 30. LAN Peru will compete against Varig, Brazil’s highly regarded flag carrier with the inauguration of Los Angeles to Sao Paulo flights. Varig offers nonstop code-share service in conjunction with United Airlines to Sao Paulo from Los Angeles. The carrier offers connecting service between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo to LAN Peru’s four weekly direct flights to Sao Paulo.
