The Global Youth Conference on Democracy and Political Participation was held up in Sao Paulo on 13 -15 December. The Youth Movement for Democracy was founded by a group of young people who believe in democracy - fair elections, free speech, and human rights. It is a network that links like-minded youth with each other and whose members work together and support each other. The started in 2004, in South Africa. This year, from December 13th to 15th, the first Global Youth Conference on Democracy and Political Participation is carried out in Sao Paulo. There are expected a participation of democracy leaders from Brazil and other parts of the world. International Working Group of the YMD, a group of six revered, pro-democracy organizers from six different countries takes part in the event too. The conference includes discussions, workshops, and a democracy fair. Participation is free for anyone, though contributions are encouraged.
